Playing Against Intimidation👍
If you're playing against an opponent you're intimidated by, listen to this advice. Oftentimes when a player is facing off against someone they think is a lot better they tend to over-hit and try to swing their way through the opponent. That plays into their strength and allows them to show off their skill.
The trick is to slow the game down and hit the ball softly into the kitchen. If you get the ball to bounce in the kitchen your opponents cannot attack it. That's why the kitchen is there. It's the ultimate equalizer. It may be hard at first, but the secret is to lower your heart rate and to pretend that you don't know the two opponents on the other side of the net.
All you know is to play your game, which is to hit the ball soft and make them hit soft shots. Don't give them any speed. Understand that this is more of a mental deficiency than it is a skill issue and over time your game will improve against better players.
